What the rating is based on
The Dun & Bradstreet Certificate is based on the Dun & Bradstreet rating, which has been assessing companies internationally on the basis of their reliability for many decades. The certificate — issued with an AAA, AA or A grade — signals the stability of companies, and that an enterprise holding such a grade is financially stable. The AAA company rating was introduced in 1989, and since 1996 companies have been able to demonstrate their business reliability in the form of a certificate as well. The Dun & Bradstreet Certificate is used in various areas of business life in many European countries.
The rating is based on data from several official sources — in Hungary, the Ministry of Justice, company court registrations, the National Tax and Customs Administration and other authorities. Beyond the official sources it incorporates the financial information of the company — balance sheet data, income statement, trends — and takes into account demographic data: the age, activity and size of the company, its owners and their connections. From the Payment Experience programme it factors in whether the enterprise settles its invoices on time or with delay, that is, its payment discipline. On top of this, the system adds numerous other collected data points, such as enforcement records or press coverage.
